UK’s Brown receives President Saleh letter

LONDON, Jan. 27 (Saba)- The British Prime Minister Gordon Brown received on Wednesday Yemen Prime Minister Ali Mujawar who handed him over a letter from President Ali Abdullah Saleh over the bilateral relations and joint cooperation fields between the two countries as well as means of reinforcing them in various areas. The letter also includes appreciation of Saleh for the British leadership for their supportive stances for Yemen’s security, stability, unity, and development and democratic process, as well as thanks for the British Premier for his initiative to call for the London meeting which is dedicated for Yemen’s friends and development partners. During the meeting, Mujawar praised efforts exerted by the British government to help this international meeting succeed which is aimed at gathering the international support for Yemen development, security and unity as well as its efforts to overcome current challenges, noting that the meeting outcomes will reinforce the ongoing partnership between Yemen and its brothers and friends in accelerating the comprehensive development in the country. He considered hosting this meeting in London a reflection of the sincere, strong and developing ties between Yemen and the United Kingdom and an extension of the non-stop UK support for Yemen either through the bilateral cooperation or within the EU or gathering the international support embodied by this meeting and London conference in 2006. The UK Premier, Brown, expressed his contentment with the success realized by the London meeting devoted for Yemen, considering Yemen friends and partners’ active participation a reflection of the international community concern to stand by Yemen to face the present challenges and support Yemen efforts in counterterrorism, development, security and unity. He restated stand of the United Kingdom by Yemen and its concern to continue supporting Yemen’s security, stability and unity as well as helping Yemen to defeat the current difficulties in the developmental, economic and security aspects and others. The talks dealt with the bilateral relations and joint cooperation areas, in addition to developing them to cover the political, economic, security, counterterrorism and piracy aspects. AM/AM Saba
