Saudi Crown Prince: Kingdom will do its best for Yemen’s joining GCC
RIYADH, Feb. 26 (Saba)- Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdul-Aziz confirmed on Tuesday that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia would do its best for Yemen’s joining to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and getting a complete membership in the council. In his meeting with Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Saleh Ba-Surrah held here, Prince Sultan highlighted the idea of Scientific and Cultural Days of Yemeni universities in the Saudi universities, considering scientific relations between Saudi and Yemeni universities a start of improvement between the two countries. He welcomed the idea of establishing Yemeni Saudi joint university for boosting academic and scientific relations and directed concern officials to include the idea in the agenda of the next round of Yemeni-Saudi Coordination Council, showing kingdom’s readiness for supporting scientific meetings of Saudi and Yemeni universities. Sultan urged academics in the universities of the two countries to hold continuous scientific and cultural meetings for their importance in enhancing brotherhood and togetherness between the people of the two countries. For his part, Ba-Surrah highlighted the crown prince’s attitudes of supporting development in Yemen and his active role in including Yemen in GCC, valuing Sultan’s care of Yemeni students in the kingdom. Ba-Surrah presented a detailed explanation to Sultan on activities of the scientific and cultural days, highlighting preparations and role of Saudi Ministry of Higher Education in making these activities successful. In the end of the meeting the Saudi Crown Prince asked Ba-Surrah to convey his bets wishes to President Ali Abdullah Saleh. MS/AM Saba
