Sarkozy felicitates Saleh on Unification Day

SANA’A May 25 (Saba) – President Ali Abdullah Saleh received on Monday a cable of congratulations from French President Nicolas Sarkozy on the occasion of 19th anniversary of the Unification Day. Sarkozy wished President Saleh further health, happiness and the Yemeni people more progress and prosperity. He indicated that Yemen and France have always distinct relations, confirming France’s keenness to strengthen such relations in various fields. In his cable, the French President made reference to the Yemeni Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Project, being implemented by the French Company TOTAL, hailing the strong joint cooperation with Yemen, which is a real partner to France in economic fields particularly energy, as Sarkozy said. He stressed the French interest in maintaining Yemeni security, especially marine security to encounter piracy threats, in addition to the country’s efforts in areas of developments. France still wants to deepen its ties with Yemen to contain all fields, Sarkozy said. He voiced his pleasure to meet again with President Saleh in Paris, affirming his desire to visit Yemen.
