Saleh visits Duma

MOSCOW, April 6 (Saba) – President Ali Abdullah Saleh visited on Tuesday headquarters of the the Russian parliament, the Duma. During the visit Saleh held talks with Duma chairman Bures Zezaneov on means of enhancing the Yemeni-Russian mutual relations in economic, commercial, industrial and military fields as well as the cooperation in the parliamentary field. They also further discussed regional and international developments and the situation in Iraq and Palestine. Saleh briefed Zezaneov on the Yemeni views on Iraq, the Arab-Israeli conflict and means to restore peace in the region. President Saleh affirmed the importance of the U.N. role to solve the Iraqi issue, end the occupation and make Iraqis to govern themselves as well as the U.N. role to solve the Palestinian issue. Saleh reiterated welcome to Russian investments in the industrial field and the Aden Free Zone. On his part Zezeneuf, noted the successful visit of President Saleh to Russia in 2002 and the fruitful talks with President Vladmir Putin. He said that the exchanging visits between Yemeni and Russian officials reflects the good relations between the two countries. JW/KM
