Saleh, Talabani review preparations for Arab Summit in Baghdad

SHARM EL-SHEIKH, Jan. 19 (Saba) – President Ali Abdullah Saleh reviewed here on Wednesday preparations for the coming Arab Summit to be held in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad. In the meeting held on the sidelines of the 2nd Arab Economic, Development and Social Summit, Saleh and Talabani discussed bilateral cooperation relations and ways to enhance them as well as the issues on the agenda of Arab Economic Summit.The meeting also touched on the issue of the Yemeni woman citizen, called Hasna’a, which could face a death sentence in Iraq. President Saleh demanded President Talabani to release or commute the sentence against her and taking her humanitarian condition into account.President Talabani promised to use his presidential power and not to sign the death verdict if issued.President Saleh affirmed Yemen’s support for the Iraq’s security, stability and unity.For his par, the Iraq President expressed keenness to widen the brotherly deep-rooted relations between Yemen and Iraq.HA/AF
