Saleh renews request for Yemeni detainees in Guantanamo

SANA’A, Feb. 07 (Saba) – President Ali Abdullah Saleh reiterated on Thursday Yemen’s request for extraditing Yemeni detainees in the Guantanamo Camp including Mohammed al-Moayad and his companion Mohammed Zaid. The Yemen request came during a meeting between the president Saleh and the U.S. ambassador to Yemen Stephen Seche. The president said that Yemen would carry out a re-qualification program for those detainees to merge them into the society as good citizens. Yemen is ready to try any of those detainees according to the Yemeni constitution and laws and based on indictment files presented by the American side containing all evidences against them, the president asserted. He hailed the Yemeni-American standing relations stressing the importance of reinforcing them. AF/AF Saba
