Saleh receives message from Bush

SANA’A, Oct 4 (Saba) – President Ali Abdullah Saleh received on Saturday a message from US President George W. Bush concerning mutual co-operation and latest developments in the region. The message was handed over by US assistant secretary of state for Near Middle East Affairs, William Burns during his meeting with the president. During the meeting, they reviewed aspects of the co-operation between Yemen and Unites States as well as international efforts to fight terror. The latest developments in Palestine territories and roadmap, as well as the current situation in Iraq were discussed. President Saleh asserted that Iraq people should get right to rule itself and importance of protecting unity and stability of Iraq. He pointed out to the importance of applying pressure by United States on Israel to implement roadmap and stop construction of a separation wall, indicating that the setting up independent Palestinian state and implementing all international resolution related to Arab and Israeli conflict is the way of achieving fair peace in the region. US official in his part highlighted Yemeni-American relations, confirming concern of his country to bolster relations with Yemen to serve common interests of both friendly countries. He praised efforts of Yemen in fighting terrorism and what Yemeni ahead achievements in field of democracy and human rights as well as participation of the women in political life. President Saleh asked him to convey replied message to president Bush and wishing good health and more progress and prosperity for American people.
