Saleh receives letter from Ahmadinejad over Israeli attacks
SANA’A, Aug. 12 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh received a letter from his Iranian counterpart Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Saturday dealing withthe developments in Lebanon and Palestine. The letter, extended by the Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, dealt with the Israeli massive assaults against Palestinian and Lebanese peoples and the coordination of Islamic positions to enhance Islamic solidarity to face the Israeli aggressions. The letter also tackled the means of enhancing mutual cooperation between Yemen and Iran to serve common interests. The Iranian president hailed the position of Yemen toward the issues of the Islamic nations, affirming his interest to develop ties with Yemen. In the meeting, president Saleh discussed with the Iranian minister the issues of common concern, especially the Iranian nuclear file and the current situation in Iraq. President Saleh emphasized the interest of Yemen to reinforce its ties with Iran in various areas, renewing Yemen’s support for Iran to have atomic energy for peaceful purposes. He asked the Iranian official to convey his greetings to the Iranian president, wishing further progress and prosperity for the Iranian people. AH/NS SABA
