Saleh directs Govt to encourage productive families
SANA’A, Jan.12(Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh attended on Wednesday the First National Conference of Associations and Productive Families held in Sana’a. At the conference, organized by the National Authority for Rising Awareness in cooperation with Al-Saleh Social Foundation for Development and Awn Foundation for Development, President Saleh delivered a speech, wishing that the conference would come up with useful outcomes. In his speech, Saleh directed the government to encourage craft associations through buying their products and to support activities of these associations and productive families by all means. In this regard, Saleh issued his directives to Prime Minister to purchase all contents of products exhibition of the associations and productive families, which is held on the sidelines of this conference. He noted that countries like China, Syria and other countries of the world have began with simple and light industries until they reached medium and heavy industries. The current products, albeit modest, would evolve if they found support and encouragement by the government agencies, Saleh pointed out emphasizing the importance of purchasing the local craft products instead of buying foreign products. “It is a pity that we buy foreign products rather than local, at the time we complain that we have unemployment and poverty”, said Saleh. Saleh wondered” Why we do not encourage these productive families and the local craft products? Why the private sector does not enter in partnership with these associations?”. President Saleh prodded the government to help these associations by giving them soft loans through Yemeni banks to encourage them to produce. In this regard, Saleh instructed the government to rehabilitate the Textile Factories in both Sana’a and Aden in cooperation with the private sector as a partner and involving these associations in these factories. He noted the importance of the private sector’s role in encouraging and promoting the local industries. “Let’s open sound credits for raw materials and make our needs within the country”, said Saleh pointing out that there is no impossible. He directed Ministry of Industry and Trade to do its duty to protect the local products through preventing the import of similar goods, emphasizing the keenness to provide all support and facilities for the associations and productive families in all circumstances. Moreover, President Saleh opened, on the sidelines of the conference, the products exhibition of association and productive families and toured its sections. He expressed his admiration for what he saw from national craft products, which reflect the large stocks of the national heritage in Yemen, affirming that they would receive all care and encouragements.
