Saleh calls for national unity govt. to supervise parliamentary election

SANA’A, Feb. 23 (Saba) – President Ali Abdullah Saleh called on Wednesday for stopping protests and mutual altercations and forming a government of national unity to supervise the coming parliamentary election.During his meeting with Senior Associate and Regional Director of National Democratic Institute (NDI) for Middle East and North Africa Leslie Campbell, President Saleh said that stopping the demonstrations will prepare for a suitable atmosphere for holding the national dialog and holding the parliamentary election freely and fairly and under local and international supervision. Indicating to the announcement he made in the joint meeting of parliament and Shura council, Saleh renewed his intent not to run again in the 2013 presidential election, affirming that no hereditary rule in Yemen.President Saleh said he is committed to carry out his responsibilities as a President of Yemen to maintain the security and stability of Yemen, noting to the role NDI plays in supporting democracy in the country.He asserted his commitment to the pluralist democracy as an irreplaceable option, saying that freedom of express is guaranteed but peacefully not violently.Saleh and Campbell reviewed the last developments in the region.AF/AF
