Saleh announces raise in salaries of armed and security forces
SANA’A,Jan.23(Saba)-President Ali Abdullah Saleh announced Sunday a raise in the salaries of armed and security forces by YR 5,000 per month, in addition to health insurance. This came during his speech delivered at the annual conference of the armed forces and security leaders, which was held at the Air Forces’ leadership headquarters. In his speech, Saleh expressed his happiness to attend this conference, wishing success for the conference. “The military and security institution has made an advanced level in the qualitative construction process during the past years, particularly in 2010”, said Saleh. He pointed out that the military and security institution is targeted by terrorist elements, especially al-Qaeda and outlaws. This institution should be protected and its officers and soldiers should be preserved through providing it with armored and modern equipments, he added. “This institution, which its staffs have sacrificed since the revolution up to day, still performs its national duty loyally”, said Saleh. This institution is not aspiring for illegal ambitions through chaos and sit-ins and disrupting security and public order and hindering investments and inflating unemployment to reach power, he added. President Saleh called on the political forces to return to dialogue before chaos in the interest of the homeland and not to sabotage. “We said the presidential term is five years for two non-renewable rounds. Let us deliberate power peacefully and not by chaos. Yemen is not Tunisia”, Saleh said. President Saleh confirmed that the military and security institution is a neutral institution and its task is to maintain security, stability and social peace. He called on the political forces to participate in the elections and constitutional amendments, with continued dialogue on the points of disagreement. Saleh warned against the creative chaos promoted by leaders of the joint meeting parties (JMPs). “I will ask pardon of Yemeni people, if I have made a mistake or failed in my duty”, said Saleh. President Saleh called the opposition abroad to come back from outside for dialogue through programs and they would be safe under this national institution. There are saboteurs in Lahj, Aden and Abyan provinces, but they do not represent the people in these provinces, because the Yemeni people everywhere with the unity, he added.
