Ruling Party meeting: focus on developments, reforms efforts
SANA’A, Jan 28 (Saba) – The General Committee of the General People’s Congress, the ruling party, held a meeting on Friday headed by President Ali Abdullah Saleh. The meeting dealt with field visits by leaders of the ruling party to the provinces to meet with leaders and senior members of the party as well as attending cultural, political and social activities with the goal of inspecting the conditions of the people. It praised the outcomes of these visits including having a close look at the people’s conditions and promising solutions to problems facing their welfare. In addition, the meeting discussed the latest developments related to the national dialogue with the Joint Meeting Parties, the opposition, affirming the interest of the ruling party in continuing dialogue as the best way to address various issues. Proceeding from the nation interest, the committee said, we urge to continue the national dialogue within the panel of four formed by President Saleh. We also call for stopping media propagandas and urge all political parties to work together to make the dialogue a success and arrange for the upcoming elections well, the committee added. “Furthermore, we urge an end to protests that ignite dissent and to avoid dragging the country into conflict or sedition, as we urge to better use rights including freedom of expression” said the committee. Issues related to economic reforms with a special focus on combating unemployment among college graduates as well as the government’s efforts in expanding social security network and implementing comprehensive reforms were discussed as well.
