President: Women will play greater role in coming elections

SANA’A, Dec 13(Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh said on Monday that women would play a greater role and participate more actively in coming local council elections after two years from now. Speaking to guests of the First Democratic Forum of Arab Women held by the Arab Sisters Forum, Saleh said: “You will see a greater role played more actively by women. The Yemeni woman is involved in all state institutions.” “We congratulate you on the successful arrangement of your conference and its decisions and decrees.” He said that awareness of men and women alike is increasing.” President Saleh accused some political forces “which once strenuously refused the participation of women (in previous elections)” of seeking to win their votes.” AA/NS SABA
