President visits Mukalla seaport

MUKALLA, Feb 23 (Saba) – President Ali Abdullah Saleh paid a visit Monday to Mukalla Seaport where he was received by the General Director of the port Abdul-Hafedh Al-Quayti and the port engineers. President Saleh inspected the function of the port and stressed the imperative of further streamlining of customs and other services in encouragement of more active trade. President Saleh visited the military marine base of Mukalla where he was received by the commander and the officers of the base. He inspected the plan of military exercises for the troops of the base as approved by the Ministry of Defense. President Saleh early in the day visited the new headquarters of the Eastern Command and top military officials. The President asked the commanders to intensify training in order to further develop the combat skills of the troops in the region. Finally, the President visited the site of one of the investmental projects in the capital of Hadhramout, Mukalla. AA/NMSABA
