President visits Dhamar, Taiz provinces

SANA’A, August 11 (Saba) – President Ali Abdullah Saleh paid on Wednesday visits to western provinces of Dhamar and Taiz, within his inspection visits for several provinces in the country. The aim of the visits is to inspect needs of the citizens and get acquaintance with the development projects that are being implemented in the two governorates. Upon his arrival in Dhamar, he laid down foundation stone for the project of faculty of medical sciences, at YR. 140 million funded by the government. He also opened project of lighting streets of Doram district and visited the government complex, ordering supplying the complex with equipments. In a ceremony held in Otomah district, President Saleh delivered a speech in which he expressed happiness for visiting Dhamar to open a number of development projects in the province. He pointed out to the importance of those projects such as project of Ottoman-Jabal Al-Sharq road that link the region with other districts of the province. He added that during the coming period the heads of local councils will be elected not appointed what means that the people would practice principle of democracy. In Taiz province, President Saleh met Taiz governor and members of the local council as he discussed with them a number issues related to works of the local councils in the province and level of the implementation of the development and service projects. He gave orders for doubling efforts to improve l performance of the local councils to enhance decentralization. He urged executive offices to offer all required services to the citizens in the framework of local council’s development plans. AH/KM SABA
