President suggests committee to resolve disputes among Arabs

IYADH, March 29 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh suggested on Thursday to form a committee headed by King of Saudi Arabia to resolve disputes among Arabs. During his speech in the closing session of the 19th Arab summit in Riyadh, president Saleh called on Arab leaders to double effort to face current challenges, insisting on the importance of boosting Arab solidarity and Arab joint work in security and economic fields. He also suggested setting up an Arab fund for offering assistance to development in the Arab world, as well as activating joint defense treaty. “It is time now to benefit from nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, he said, urging Arab leaders to exist a joint Arab project to generate electricity by using atomic energy. He renewed commitment of Yemen to all previous decisions of Arab summits and Arab Peace Initiative which was approved in Beirut summit in 2002. He urged Lebanese factions to pass their disputes to maintain peace and stability in Lebanon, calling on Arab league to continue its efforts to realize reconciliation in Lebanon. He also confirmed right of United Arab Emirates to get back its three islands. AH/AM
