President says some judges distort justice
SANA’A, Oct 20 (Saba) – President Ali Abdullah Saleh on Wednesday accused some judges of tarnishing the image of the judicial system by misconduct. Moderating a meeting of the Higher Judiciary Council and Higher Court, the President said “some judges deliberately over-bureaucratize court proceedings to make people view today’s justice system unfavorably andsee the Imamite regime favorably.” He called on the law enforcement authorities to “inspect prisons, courts and reformatories to make sure that law is not mishandled.” The laws we have today, Saleh contended, are a unique makeup that selected the best out of every denomination of Islam. The President said that the appeal courts shouldn’t refer cases to the Higher Court unless it is too difficult for them to deal with the cases. He promised a package of measures to be taken to streamline judicial workin counties across the country. AA/KM SABA
