President Saleh: Yemen’s relationships based on mutual respect

SANA’A, Jan 19 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh said on Wednesday that Yemen’s relations with other countries is based on mutual respect and partnership. In an address to the nation on the eve of Eid al-Adhaha, President Saleh said Yemen would continue its policy of contributing to Middle East peace and stability. President Saleh said that comprehensive peace in the region is impossible without the enforcement of the UN resolutions in apropos of the Arab-Israeli conflict and the creation of a viable Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital. “The Israeli policy of terrorism and annihilation against the Palestinian people will only result in more hatred, violence and regional instability,” he said. “We look forward to that the American administration led by President George W. Bush exerts all its efforts in pushing for peace and resolving the standoff by the creation of an independent Palestinian state.” As for Iraq, President Saleh expressed hope that elections will embody the national unity of all Iraqis. He called on the international community to help the Sudanese Government reconstruct its western region of Darfur and also help war-torn Somalia to rebuild state institutions. He hoped that the next Arab summit in Algeria will foster a pan-Arab perspective for a corporate stance to withstand challenges and threats. President Saleh also prayed for a happy haj for all Moslem pilgrims. AA/AA SABA
