President Saleh to meet US assistant secretary of state

Sana’a, Dec. 14(Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh will meet Thursday the US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs C. David Welch who arrived in Yemen Wednesday. Welch will meet also with a number of officials for talks on bilateral relations and developments in Iraq, Palestine, Lebanon and Somalia. President Saleh met Wednesday with the US Ambassador to Yemen Tomas Krajeski and talked over various issues. C. David Welch was sworn in as Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs on March 18, 2005. Mr. Welch was U.S. Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt from August 2001 to March 2005. From October 1998 to August 2001, Mr. Welch served as Assistant Secretary of State for International Organization Affairs.
