President Saleh telephones GCC leaders
SANA’A, May 22 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh on Sunday evening telephoned separately Gulf leaders, including Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz, Bahraini King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa, Kuwaiti Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and Omani Sultan Qaboos bin Said. In the conversations, President Saleh told the Gulf leaders about the Joint Meeting Parties’ disclaimer to sign the Gulf-brokered initiative aimed to resolve the crisis in Yemen, and their refusal to sign the deal within the framework of transparency and openness and the presence of media, the GCC Secretary General and ambassadors of the GCC member states, the United States and the European Union to Yemen. The President also pointed out that the opposition parties’ insistence to sign the initiative in closed rooms stresses their bad intentions in dealing with the initiative and non-compliance with its terms. He renewed his readiness to sign the initiative in light of the opposition’s attendance to the presidential palace as well as media’s presence. The President expressed his thanks to the leaders of the GCC member states for their efforts and endeavors in order to resolve the crisis in Yemen. YA Saba
