President Saleh: Saada rebellion quashed

SANA’A, April 12 (Saba) – President Ali Abdullah Saleh announced on Tuesday that the rebellion of Badruddin al-Houthi in the Saada province has been quelled, expressing thanks to citizens who supported government forces in pursuing rebels. Speaking to reporters after a meeting with visiting Danish Foreign Minister Per Stig Moller, President Saleh said the rebellion was led by “outlaws who only have contempt for the constitution and law and order.” The rebellion was committed by “a group of people who have no political weight, they are outlaws who have nothing but contempt for the constitution and law and order,” he said. “They are extremists and backwards holding an ideology that goes back to more than 43 years ago,” the president said. “The rebellion was overcome on Wednesday, and the area that was under their control was captured.” President Saleh expressed thanks to support extended by the citizens in Saada to the security and armed forces.
