President Saleh receives letter from Bush over mutual cooperation

ADEN, (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh received a letter from the American President George W. Bush over the bilateral relations and mutual cooperation between the two countries as well as issues of common concern. The letter was handed over by the assistance of the US President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism Affairs Frances Townsend during her meeting with president Saleh. In the message, Bush highlighted positive results of Saleh’s recent visit to Washington and efforts of Yemen in combating terrorism. He also affirmed continuation of the US support for Yemen and its unification and security as well as its democracy and development processes. The letter spotlighted security and unification of Yemen as key elements to stability in the region. The American assistance would be continued for Yemen in fields of development, education, military, security and combating terror, the message reads. During the meeting, president Saleh discussed with the US official aspects of mutual cooperation between Yemen and United States, especially in spheres of economy, security and fighting terrorism. He asked the US official to convey a message to president Bush over relations between the two countries and the current development in regional and international arenas of common concerns. AH/AM Saba
