President Saleh receives Japanese official

SANA’A, Aug. 01(Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh received on Tuesday the Japanese visiting deputy Foreign Minister Shintaro Ito. The Japanese official convoyed the wishes of Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi to president Saleh and Yemeni people more progress. During the meeting, the two men discussed the bilateral relations and mutual cooperation between the two countries and means of enhancing them. They also talked over the latest regional and international developments of common concern topped by the Israeli attacks on Palestinian and Lebanese peoples as well as the situations in Iraq. Ito affirmed the adherence of his country to enhance relations and join tcooperation with Yemen, pointing to the Yemeni-Japanese good friendship relations that were supported by president Saleh’s latest visit to Japan. For his part, president Saleh hailed the high level of bilateral relations and mutual cooperation fields, in addition to the Japanese support for democratic and development march in Yemen. He also assured the importance of the Japanese role in the Security Council in terms of pressing Israel to stop its attacks on Palestine and Lebanon and obligate it to respect international laws concerning the Arab-Israeli war.
