President Saleh receives football junior national team

SANA’A, Sep. 25 (Saba) – President Ali Abdullah Saleh received here on Sunday the national junior football team after qualifying for 2011 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup finals.The President congratulated the team’s members, administrative and technical staffs on the success and great performance they have achieved in the AFC qualification matches held in Kuwait.”Your performance has been excellent. You have proved that the Yemeni sports are continuously developed and able to compete in the Arab, regional and international sports events” the president said.He said that he has watched all the team’s matches and activities constantly, pinning hopes that they would represent Yemen honorably.You have to intensify your training and acquire more skills to be professionals and capable to compete, the president said, adding that the political leadership and government would spare no support for them.He urged them to take care of their health and physical fitness and avoid chewing qat, smoking and staying up that affect the athletes’ fitness.AF
