President Saleh receives FAO conference participants
SANA’A, Mar 15 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh and vice president
Abdu- Raboo Mansour Hadi received on Wednesday the participants in the 28 regional conference of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) that being held in Sana’a.
Saleh welcomed the participants wishing to the conference and them more success and progress with a positive decision.
He congratulated the general director of the organization on reelecting him as FAO director, evaluating FAO interest in agriculture and food issues.
In his speech, president Saleh reviewed what Yemen achieved in that term, briefing that Yemen was import its food needs until 1984.
He also talked about the Yemen achievements in filed of Fish wealth, pointing out to the currently Yemeni production reach to 239 thousands tons.
He also affirmed the importance to take care on the water case in Yemen, remembering that Yemen faced in the last time more difficulties over rains little.
We could restrain a lot of rain waters to serve the agricultural development and keep water through building a number of dams in different governorates in Yemen, Saleh said.
He added that Yemen from 1945 was depend on the local agricultural productions, in addition it also was export some of these productions.
For his part the general director of FAO Jacques Diouf expressed his and
participants thanks for Yemen to hold this conference, praising president Saleh welcoming.
He praised Yemeni progress and successes in filed of investment, especially in water keeping term.
In the meeting, the general director of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Jacques Diouf gave president Saleh FAO medal as in appreciating of his efforts in supporting the organization in its duties in field of agricultural developments and food security.
