President Saleh receives ESCWA official

HODEIDAH, March 08 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh received on Saturday deputy executive director of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) Badr Omr. During the meeting, President Saleh and Omr talked on the arrangements for holding the upcoming meeting of ESCWA that will be hosted by Yemen by the end of May in addition to discussing aspects of the mutual cooperation between Yemen and ESCWA. Preparation of studies on water projects and generating electricity by sun power in some villages of the country will be including the commission’s activities in Yemen. The ESCWA official expressed the commission’s readiness to offer experts to prepare such studies, pointing out the importance of the commission’s meeting to promote economic and investment projects in Yemen. Omr also reviewed ESCWA’s activities in several member countries, affirming the commission’s concern to extend horizons of the cooperation with Yemen. For his part, President Saleh highlighted efforts of the commission, pointing out the concern of Yemen to cooperate with ESCWA in these fields and training programs. President Saleh welcomed investments in Yemen especially in electricity and water, saying that investors would receive all care. AH/YA Saba
