President Saleh receives Arab and Islamic leaders

MALAYSIA, Oct 16 (Saba) – On the sideline of Islamic Conference Organization summit, President Ali Abdullah Saleh met on Thursday with Russian President Vladimir Putin. During the meeting, the two leaders discussed the topic of joining Russia to OIC and the bilateral relations as well as the latest developments in the region of the common concern. President Saleh praised Butin’s speech in the OIC summit and said the the Russian request to join the OIC is a positive step that would enhance the organization’s work. Meanwhile, President Ali Abdullah Saleh received here Qatar’s Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Algerian President Abdul- Aziz Bouteflika, Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir, Zambian President Yahya Jam’a, Sierra Leone’s President Kabbah, Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohammed, Djiboutian Prime minister Mohammad Dileita, Syrian vice President Abdul-Halim Khaddam,Lebanese Prime Minister Rafic al-Hariri, head of the Bahrain delegation Sheilhk Kalifa bin Salman Al-Kalifa, Omani State Minister for Foreign Affairs Yosaf bin Alawi, Qatari Foreign Minister Hamad bin Jasim bin Jabir Al Thani, Sudanese Foreign Minister Mustafa Othman, head of political department in the Palestinian lebaration Organization Faroq Qadomi, head of the Libyain delegation Mokhtar Al-Ghanasi, head of Mauritanian delegation Abdul-Qader Mohammed, and General secretary of Islamic Conference organization Azat Mofti. During the meetings, President Saleh discussed with them the bilateral relations and the current situations in the region as well as coordination of stances to enhance Islamic solidarity.
