President Saleh praises role of al-Azhar

SANA’A, June 21 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh and Vice President Abdu R. Mansour held talks on Monday with Shiekh of al-Azhar Mohammed Tantawi on cooperation in reeducating Yemeni preachers. Sheikh Tantawi who is participating in the Guidance Conference that began yesterday in Sana’a said the moderate Islamic establishment would strengthen ties of cooperation with Yemen. President Saleh praised al-Azhar for its role of promoting middle-of-the-roadism as a typical characteristic of the true faith of Islam. AA/NS SABA
