President Saleh opens projects in Hodeidah
HODEIDAH, Jan 5 (Saba) – President Ali Abdullah Saleh paid visits on Monday to the counties of Beit Al-Fakih, Zabid, Al-Jarahi, Hays, Al-Khawkha and Al-Tahtiya where he launched several development projects at more than YR 3,531,000,000. President Saleh was greeted by chieftains and high-profile officials of the local governments. In Beit Al-Fakih, he laid the cornerstones for sanitation, project of garbage collection and youth sports center. The projects cost YR 1,555,000,0000, YR 20,000,000 and YR 8,000,000 respectively. Upon arrival to Hussyniya, President Saleh laid the foundation stone for the 15-km Al-Husseiniya-Al-Jarooba road project at a total of YR 250 million. He also opened a cotton weaving factory, a project worth YR 195,000,000. The factory is supposed to function with a production capacity of 7,000 tons annually. The project is intended to encourage farmers grow more cotton in Tihama coastal areas. In Khawkha area, the President inspected the ongoing construction of a 275-m path, a cargo place, a 160m-long anchor and water barriers in Khawkha seaport. He ordered the concerned authorities to quickly accomplish the power project of Hays Al-Khawkha and the fishermen anchor in Al-Faza coastal area. In Al-Tahtiya, Saleh instructed the concerned authorities to build a dispensary, a souq for agricultural products and two schools, one for boys one for girls. He also instructed the construction of an equestrian club. Then, he officially opened a power project and telephone station. Finally, the President visited the 2nd Infantry Camp where he was received by the Commander of the Camp, Major Colonel Qasem Labbozah. He hailed the officers of the camp for their commitment to duty mission. He said that “our armed forces pay central attention to the update of combat skills and modernization of weaponry.” On Sunday, President Saleh, the General Commander of the Armed Forces, had officially launched, in Hodeidah, a new year of military exercises for the armed forces.
