President Saleh meets USAID Acting Administrator
WASHINGOTN, April 30 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh received Monday in his residence in Blair Acting Administrator of US Agency for International Development (USAID) Gordon West. During the meeting, cooperation aspects between Yemen and the USAID and development projects financed by the agency in Yemen were discussed. President Saleh and West reviewed Yemen’s efforts in economic, financial and administrative reforms with support of its development partners as well as the future support by the USAID for more developmental projects in Yemen. West praised the successes Yemen has achieved in inclusive reform program and the exerted efforts to combat corruption, gearing up economic development and encouraging investments. He expressed the agency’s keenness on increasing its support for development projects in the coming period. He pointed out that September presidential and municipal elections have supported Yemen’s status in the democratic field, praising Yemen’s efforts in combating terrorism. President Saleh commended the projects and aids provided by the agency to Yemen, hoping the cooperation will expand in the future. MS/NS SABA
