President Saleh meets UNDP out-going representative

SANA’A, June 2 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh met on Wednesday the out-going representative of United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Yemen James Rawely on the occasion of ending his duty in Yemen. During the meeting they discussed the mutual cooperation between Yemen and UNDP as well as discussing topics of the meeting between Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh and the General Secretary of United Nations Kofi Annan next week that would discuss a number of issues such as situations in Palestine, Iraq and Afghanistan as well as the role of UN to restore peace in the middle east. Rawely highly appreciated the Yemeni progress in democracy and development fields. He mentioned that Yemen is considered the first country in the region and the second one in the world which will benefit from the millennium development goals. For his side president Saleh praised Rawely’s efforts for enhancing the cooperation fields between Yemen and UN, wishing success for him in his new duties. JW/NS SABA
