President Saleh meets Henry Siegman

NEW YORK June 7 (Saba) – President Ali Abdullah Saleh received here on Monday in New York city Henry Siegman, the director of the Council on Foreign Relations’ US/Middle East project.In the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations and aspects of mutual cooperation between Yemen and US. The meeting dealt with the international and latest regional developments on top of which is the situation in Palestine and Iraq. They have also reviewed efforts exerted to prevail peace in Middle East region through the implementation of the roadmap plan and the international legitimacy resolutions.They also reviewed reform process and the democratic experience in Yemen in addition to what have been achieved in this respect.On his part, US official highly praised what have been achieved in Yemen particularly in field democracy, considering Yemen a unique experience in the region. On the same level, President Saleh received the Richard Murphy, a former assistant secretary of state for the Middle East affairs and the former US ambassador at the US secretary of state Frank Izner.During the meeting they discussed bilateral relations , common cooperation between the two friendly countries as well as the situation development in Middle East region, the situation in Palestine and Iraq came on top of them.They also discussed issues to be discussed in the G-8 summit to be held at Sea island in Georgia state and Yemeni viewpoint towards the Middle East reform process.
