President Saleh meets European Commissioner

BRUSSELS, Jan. 31 (Saba) – President Ali Abdullah Saleh met Wednesday evening in Brussels with the European Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy Benita Ferrero-Waldner. During the meeting, President Saleh and Ferrero-Waldner talked on the mutual cooperation relations between Yemen and European Union in addition to the EU support being offered to Yemen for developmental projects amounted about €81 million.. The EU Commissioner confirmed EU is interested to increase cooperation fields with Yemen. She stressed on the decision which taken to open an European Commissioner office in Sana’a that would start its work by the beginning of next March to serve cooperation relations between Yemen and EU. She hailed democratic and multi-party method in Yemen, pointing out that Yemen presented pioneer example for democratic practice in the region. She confirmed that EU would support Yemen to overcome development challenges and to support its democratic trends. NN/YA Saba
