President Saleh launches new telecom projects

ANA’A, May 23, (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh launched in Sana’a on Sunday a number of telecommunication projects for all provinces of the country at a cost of Yr 38,487,600,000, as a key facet of celebrating the 14th anniversary of the National Day, May 22. He officially opened 212 projects, and laid the cornerstone for 112 projects. President Saleh launched the expansion of 41 telecommunication centers, setup of 60 new telecom centers and many telecommunication stations. Together with the Minister of Telecommunication Abdul-Malik Al-Moallimi, Mayor of Sana’a Ahmed Al-Kuhlani, and the Secretary General of the Public Telecommunication Corporation, Kamal Al-Jabri, President Saleh formally launched Al-Oboor Center, the Smart Network, Coincidence Clock, Billing System, Fiber Optics Station and expanded three telecom centers at a cost of Yr 2 billion. The Smart Network is supposed to offer Prepaid Card phone services, a moved to economize the consumption of people living on limited incomes. The Clock of Coincidence is meant to identify the places of failure on the lines, safeguard the authenticity of timing on the monitors and ensure that detailed bills are never intruded. President Saleh hailed the quality of the services of telecommunication, instructed the reduction of the costs of international phone calls and ending the monopolization of GSM service operation in order to ensure the best services under competition.
