President Saleh launches Al-Husainyah festival of camels

HODEIDAH,(Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh attended on Saturdaythe opening of Al-Husainyah Festival for camels and horsemanship 2006which is taking place here in Al-Husainyah being
held to activate a competitionrelated to the folk heritage.

Almost 200 competitors participate in the horses race and 300 competitorsparticipate in camels race and jumping over camels.

The 500 participants are from Hodeidah, Taiz, Abyan, Al-Jawf, Marib and Sana’a.

President Saleh delivered a speech expressing his pleasure to launch al-Husainyah festival, praising the shows in the third festival in
Hodeidah.

The ministry of youth and sports has to be more interested in these activities and traditional shows and the government should support
the ministry,Saleh added.

On the other hand, the governor of Hodeidah governorate Mohammed Shamlan pointed to the importance of the festival that comes to
revive some of Yemeni traditional sports.

The projects of youth and sports in Hodeidah reach to 28 projects with a total cost of YR 1 billion.
