President Saleh inspects Naval College, base in Hodeidah
HODEIDAH, March 05 (Saba) – President Ali Abdullah Saleh paid Wednesday an inspection visit to the Naval military base and the Naval college in Hodeidah province. Saleh get acquainted with progress in the implementation of the new piers project in the base, which costs totally YR14 billion. The main pier (about 870 m) could receive 25 – 30 thousand tons at the same time, floating pier (860 m length) with a total capacity of 72 boats in addition to a number of Breakwaters with 1250 m. President Saleh urges the executing company to speed up the implementation according to the fixed technical specifications. On the other hand, Saleh was briefed on the studying progress in the Naval College and the educational and military attainments for the college students in domains of marine sciences and modern military techniques. He asserted the importance of foreign languages acquisition, particularity English language and hold training courses for the students in this field. He highlighted the developments achieved by the Naval Forces and the modern techniques and army equipments they have been provided with to enhance their capabilities to protect the coasts, islands, regional waters and maritime environment.
