President Saleh in Egypt to attend Arab summit

SHARM EL SHEIKH, Jan. 19 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh arrived on Wednesday in the Egyptian city of Sharm El Sheikh.President Saleh will lead the Yemeni delegation in the 2nd Arab Economic, Development and Social Summit taking palace on 19 January in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.Upon his arrival, the President was welcomed at the airport of Sharm El Sheikh by senior Egyptian officials.In a statement to media, President Saleh expressed his happiness to participate in the Arab Economic Summit in Sharm El-Sheikh, noting the summit will discuss several issues of Arab economic cooperation and integration.”Our Arab nation always needs to deal with issues and aspects of economic development in order to enhance mutual interests and benefits among the peoples of the Arab nation”, he emphasized.”The economy is important for the consolidation of Arab political relations and the protection against any fluctuations”.He went on to say that Yemen always emphasizes the importance of speeding up the establishment of a joint Arab market, an Arab Fund for Economic Development and Arab economic and investment projects, including energy, road projects, rail and other projects in order to create truth interests of the Arab peoples.”We also believe that this summit is taking place under significant conditions and developments on the Arab arena, especially in light of the Israeli siege on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip”, said Saleh.”In addition, there are challenges facing the Arab nation whether economic, political or security levels as well as the acts of terrorism”, Saleh explained.MB/YASaba
