President Saleh hails payoff of Security Deployment
SANA’A, July 7 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh highlighted on Thursday the successful reduction of crime rate through the country wide deployment of security forces.In a ceremony, launching the 4th phase of the Security Deployment, President Saleh urged the government to be as determined in combating poverty and corruption as well. He cited the “during the previous years, Yemen witnessed development in building military and security forces”.He cited the triumph over the royal-minded rebels in Marran district, saying that the insurgents, chauvinistically loyal to their sect, must know the country is for all the people. The president called on all political forces in Yemen to cooperate with the government in carrying out its programs and plans. “The opposition is the other face of the power, and the press should improve its function to earn reputation inside and outside the country. It should refrain from offensive rhetoric. Interior minister Rashad al-Alimi, however, highlighted in a few remarks President Saleh’s interest in improving the overall conditions of the security forces as the guardians of the national security. In 2002, the interior ministry launched the deployment plan in 13 areas in Shabwa, Marib and Al-Jawf provinces. The second phase was launched in 2003 when the ministry set up 66 checkpoints. In 2004, the third phase included setting up 12 security zones in some provinces of the country.The fourth phase completes establishing security checkpoints and deploys 5430soldiers, the minister says.
