President Saleh congratulates new Pope

SANA’A, April 22 (Saba) – President Ali Abdullah Saleh sent on Friday a cable of congratulations to newly elected Pope Benedict XVI, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger. In his cable, President Saleh expressed warm congratulations to the Pope on his election as the Supreme Pontiff of the Catholic Church. “We are convinced that choosing you for the post would contribute to spreading principles of tolerance and peace throughout the world to follow steps of your predecessor Pope John Paul II,” the cable read.
