President Saleh calls on Arab leaders to take their responsibilities

DOHA, March 31 (Saba) – President Ali Abdullah Saleh assured that Yemen has presented an initiative aims at activating the Arab joint work in politic, economic, cultural and security fields based on establishing an Arab union.In his speech at a closed-door meeting of the 21st Arab summit which concluded its agenda in the Qatari capital Doha last Monday, President Saleh said that everyone must take their responsibilities towards the Arab issues, confirming the necessity of improving the Arab joint work.”Sudan is facing a new ring of conspiracy and a flagrant violation of Sudan’s sovereignty and blatant intervention in its internal affairs by the warrant against President Omar al-Bashir”, added Saleh, calling for more support to the Somali newly appointed government as well as Somali President Sheikh Ahmed Sharif.For Iraq, Saleh confirmed his country’s support for security and stability of Iraq and its national unity.The Yemeni President renewed his call for more efforts in fighting terrorism and developing the mechanisms of coordination, security and intelligence cooperation between Arab countries to face terrorist threats.Saleh announced that Yemen had offered $ five million to support the fund of small and medium projects aiming at achieving economic development in the Arab states.Well-informed sources mentioned that President Ali Abdullah Saleh withdrew on Monday from the closed-door and concluding sessions of the Doha summit.The withdrawal comes in protest for not allowing the Yemeni vision on activating mechanisms of the Arab joint work and establishing an Arab union to be read.
