President Saleh calls Arab universities to review education outputs

Sana’a, April 23 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh met Monday with heads of Arab universities who participated in the 40th round of Arab Universities Federation held in the capital Sana’a. heads of the universities expressed admiration of development in Yemen in field of education and the official support for government and private universities. President Saleh welcomed the guests confirming the importance of education and its role the universities could play to “arm youths with knowledge against all forms of tribal and sectarian temper and extremism.” “If there is real education and well awareness among youths, we can avoid the sectarian temper that the Islamic Ummah faced since hundreds of years, said Saleh. But we are sure the future will be better and that our scholars, teachers and intellectuals will take care about new generations and encourage them to be creative so that to serve their countries and the Islamic Ummah in general, said the president. He also called universities to balance between the education inputs and the needs of development. “Universities should focus on education quality and scientific research standards as that will have positive impacts on the general Arab and Islamic environment and provides us well-educated youths, said Saleh.
