President Saleh attends symposium on Sana’a 70-day blockade

SANA’A, Feb. 10 (Saba) – President Ali Abdullah Saleh attended on Sunday a symposium of documenting the Yemeni revolution history organized by Defense Ministry February 10-14 on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Sana’a 70-day blockade. In the opening session, President Saleh delivered a speech in which he voiced pleasure to open the symposium on overcoming the 70-day blockade that had been achieved by groups of heroes of the Yemeni army, citizens and politicians who protected the Yemeni revolution. President Saleh gave the participants a summary on the events of the two revolutions, 26 September and 14 October, mentioning his role as a solider in the second row of the army during the developments at that period. “We carried out the revolution against the oppression, underdevelopment and the Sectarian ruling. The revolution was made to last”, said the President. He considered that talking about the crises in the mass media is an advantage from democracy and freedom and it is also “a fruit of the Yemeni unification”. President Saleh confirmed that education is the only way to overcome the concepts dealing with crisis that are addressed in the media. He also mentioned the stages have been made for reunified the country, indicating to the Amman conference and the 1994 civil war. President Saleh also presented a work paper on further details of the revaluations of the 26 September and 14 October as well as all major events during the stages of the Yemeni unification that occurred in 1990.
