President Saleh attends celebration of Document Day

SANA’A, Feb.10 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh attended Saturday the celebration held by the National Center for Documents on the occasion of Yemeni Document Day. In the ceremony, president Saleh delivered a speech in which he expressed his happiness to attend this celebration. He thanked all Yemeni faithful personalities for their effort in preserving the important documents, being considered the nation’s remembrance. He talked about the history of Yemen’s documents, pointing out to the whereabouts of these documents and how they have been collected. He indicated that there documents still in some ministries and government institutions must be collected and preserved in the center.” There are documents in a number of governorates included Taiz, Aden and Hadhramout, need to be collected by survey teams,” he said, adding that there are document traffickers gain money by trafficking the wealth of their country. He said that there are modern archiving to be followed in preserving Yemeni documents, pointing out to documents in the Central Bank of Yemen and its branches in some governorates. Meanwhile, Judge Ali Ahmad Aburrejal, the chairman of the center, have delivered a speech in which he valued the support of Saleh to the center. He talked about the efforts the center exerted during the past sixteen years and its relations to Arab, Islamic and international centers and archives. ” The center nowadays has become a member of the International Council for Archive,” he said, adding that the center has won great experience through its relations with Arab centers and archives. He pointed out that the center has trained and qualified 720 archive workers in government apparatus, clarifying that 135 researchers, who are preparing Master and Doctorate degrease, have made use of the information and documents in the center. Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Saleh Basurrah, delivered a speech in which he talked about the support of president Salehin preserving documents. He said that Yemen today has “National House for documents and records. “He added that the center collected vast of documents distributed in and out Yemen. In the end of the ceremony, president Saleh handed out the armor of the center to a number of personalities for their roles in supporting the efforts of the center in performing its role to preserve the documents.
