President Saleh arrives in London
LONDON, August 25 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh arrived on Wednesday afternoon at Heathrow Airport in London where he was welcomed by British officials and the Yemeni Ambassador to the UnitedKingdom Mutahar Al-Saeedi and British Ambassador to Yemen Michael Gifford as well as members of Yemeni community in Britain. Upon his arrival, president Saleh told reporters the visit was within the framework of exchange of visits between officials of the two countries. The President said he would hold talks with Tony Blair and other British officials on means of enhancing the bilateral relations and cooperation, and latest international and regional developments especially in respect to the Arab-Israeli conflict and situations in Iraq. “Yemen is looking forward to a more active British and European role in the peace process in the region in line with Roadmap peace plan and the international resolutions that put an end to Israeli occupation of Arab territories and create an independent Palestinian state,” he said. President Saleh made clear that economic partnership notably in investments would be a focal point of the discussions. AH/AA
