President rewards senior media figures

SANA’A March 19 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh rewarded on Thursday a number of senior Yemeni media figures in a ceremony held on the occasion of Yemeni Media Day- 19th March. In the ceremony, president Saleh expressed thanks for these figures and their role in serving nation, highlighting importance of the word in protecting unity of the nation. He also affirmed key role of media in strengthening principle of loyalty for the nation, saying that there are trends to allow corporation and individuals to open space channels and radios in accordance with laws. President Saleh also pointed out to the importance of establishing higher media council to draw a media strategy for the nation, asking to adopt modern means in field of media. President concluded his speech by asking media personnel and journalists to pay further efforts to serve the nation. For his part, the minister of information Hassan al-Lawzi delivered a speech, in which he reviewed achievements in field of media and press freedom in the country. He pointed out to the measures to set up radio stations in other governorates and improve the performance of Saba News Agency as well as modernizing printers in several state press corporations.
