President receives Catholic delegation

ANA’A, March 24 (Saba) – President Ali Abdullah Saleh received here on Wednesday delegation of the Catholic Brotherhood Foundation which is currently visiting Yemen. In the meeting, the delegation conveyed regards of John Paul II, Pope of Vatican, to the president and his wishes more progress and prosperity for Yemeni people. President Saleh discussed with the delegation cooperation between Yemen and Vatican and the importance of dialogue between religions to encourage tolerance, bridge gaps between peoples and civilizations and to enhance stability and security in the world. The meeting pointed out to the activities of the Catholic Brotherhood Foundation to serve global peace. Head of the delegation prince Carload Bourbon presented the title of “Greatest Knight” to president Saleh for his role in achieving Yemen Unity and obtaining peace at regional and international levels. President Saleh granted Prince Carload Bourbon the title of “22 May Yemen” in appreciation for relations between Yemen and Vatican and humanitarian activities of the prince in promoting peace and dialogue between religions. Meanwhile, the prime minister Abdul-Qader Bajammal held talks with the delegation focused on bilateral relations between Yemen and Vatican, and the role of Vatican in supporting rights of the Palestinian people and other humanitarian issues in the region.
