President: Receives British House of Commons Delegation

Sana’a, Agu.27,206(SABA) – President Ali Abdullah Saleh received today here in Sana’a the delegation of British House of Commons headed by the commoner Keith Faz who conveyed a message from the British prime minister Tony Blair to the president dealt with the arrangements for holding the donor conference in London. Donor conference aims to back up the development drive in Yemen and scheduled to be held next November. Moreover, the message touched upon the bilateral relations and aspects of mutual cooperation between the two countries. During the meeting issues of mutual cooperation were discussed. The British delegation applauded democratic experiment of Yemen and the democratic mobilization as preparations are in full swing to conduct the presidential and local council elections. The delegation also affirmed that UK have a keen interest to boost its ties with Yemen and to support the democratic and development march in Yemen, pointing out to Britain’s decision to increase its aids to help Yemen building up more developmental projects. The president asked the delegation to convey his compliments to the British prime minister, wishing him and the British people further progress and prosperity. The meeting was attended by deputy speaker of parliament Abdul-Wahb Muhmoud, the chairman of foreign relations at the parliament Gubran Mugahed AbuShawaerb and the British ambassador to Sana’a Micheal Gifford .
