President receives ADI director

SANA’A, Jan.16 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh received on Wednesday director of the American Democracy Institute (ADI) Lois Quam who is currently visiting the country. In the meeting, activities of the institute in Yemen and its support for democracy were discussed. The director of the institute praised democracy in Yemen, saying that it is an example of the democratic act at Arab level. Yemen is progressing under the leadership of president Saleh in field of democracy, he added. He pointed out to the elections of Yemen, highlighting participation of women in these elections. For his part, president Saleh valued role of the institute to support democracy in Yemen. The democracy is our political choice, he said, the country would work to improve it. AH/AM Saba
