President received German intellectual

SANA’A, Jan 15 (Saba) – President Ali Abdullah Saleh received here on Thursday the German author Guntter Grass who is currently visiting Yemen to take part in German- Arab Novel Forum. President Saleh welcomed the German author and all Arab and European authors participating in the meeting that is being held in Sana’a. He confirmed interest of the country to support all cultural activities in order to open further horizons of creativity. Grass, a Nobel literature prize winner, expressed happiness for what he saw in Yemen, especially in Hadramout governorate and Socatra island. He pointed out to wonderment of the Yemeni novel in particular and the Arab novel in general, saying that the meeting would be a step in utilizing from Yemeni culture and Arab culture. AH/KM SABA
