President praises Yemeni-Chinese ties

BEIJING, April 7 (Saba) – President Ali Abdullah Saleh praised on Friday level of the Yemeni- Chinese relations, saying the relations are historical.
Speaking to reporters, president Saleh said that China has supported Yemeni revolution, adding that the relations depends on respect and not intervening in internal affairs.
The trade ties witnessed notable progress, he said, China now is the key competitor in the Yemeni markets. He pointed out to participation of 100 Yemeni businessmen in the visit, who came to discuss with their Chinese counterparts chance of enhancing economic cooperation between the two countries.
He appreciated position of China over Arab-Israel, saying that the talks with Chinese leaderships were positive and fruitful.
Asked about Chinese viewpoint over peace process in Middle East, president Saleh said that Chinese role is important as it is permanent member in United Nations and could exercise along with international community pressure on Israel to carry out international resolutions associated with Arab-Israeli conflict.
He said the implementation of those resolutions would realize fair peace in the region.
Regarding efforts of fighting terror, president Saleh said that the terror is a disease and the international community has to double its efforts to combating this disease, calling rich countries to help poor peoples to reduce poverty as it is considered one of the elements of spreading terrorism.

He said that Yemen has been subjected for terror acts which impacted negatively on the tourism and investment in the country.
He said that Chain achieved good steps towards economic liberation, adding that Yemen and China signed 18 government agreements in addition to series of agreements singed with Yemeni businessmen in different fields.
